Traincademy

By means of the reorganisation of its training activities, the Wiener Lokalbahnen Group aims to make an important contribution to top quality training in rail operations and, as a result, become a leading training centre in the eastern region of Austria.

Thousands of metric tonnes of goods are on the move every day on Austria’s rail network. In addition, there are also the millions of passengers using rail services to get to work or school, do their shopping or take a vacation in an environmentally friendly way.

The operational management that goes on behind the scenes is extremely complex and requires coordination on the part of all players in the rail system. This includes not only infrastructure operators but also the more than 70 railway undertakings which now operate in Austria. In order to fulfil these high standards, railway undertakings require highly qualified and optimally trained personnel.

By means of the reorganisation of its training activities, the Wiener Lokalbahnen Group aims to make an important contribution to top quality training in rail operations and, as a result, become a leading training centre in the eastern region of Austria. The standard gauge operations of the WLB Group benefit from the comprehensive expertise gained from freight and passenger transportation as well as from managing special transport services. Bundling these areas of expertise generates synergy effects which cover a very wide spectrum and ensure the transfer of knowledge beyond the bounds of the Group.

These training courses are coordinated by our newly created Traincademy, forming part of the officially recognised training facility of WLB.

Our Traincademy offers top-qualified trainers and modern training facilities for up to 20 participants. Since 2021 a model railway, VR-Glasses and new simulators have elevated the training to new heights. Collaborations with other companies in the industry ensure the training is outstanding in terms of quality and creates new opportunities by providing additional exhibits and practical training options.
